Fan Ground Trigger Capability

I need to wire an indicator light that will illuminate when the fans turn on.  Can I use the yellow fan ground trigger wire to also ground an indicator light?  Essentially I'd have 12v going to a light, then the ground wire from the light will tie in to the yellow fan wire.  So when the fitech activates the ground, then fan AND the light would turn on?

  1. Will that work
  2. What is the amperage limit for that yellow fan trigger?
2a. Can I use that yellow wire to trigger three relays, as well as the indicator light?

I wouldn't do it that way. You can use the 12 v power lead to your fan to one side of the indicator light and ground the other lead. The light will come on when the fan comes on. This way the Fitech only needs to trigger the fan relay But better yet dont use the Fitech fan control and get a PWM fan controller. I use the one from Northern radiator. Its a much better way to control your fans and alot less stress on your alternator as it varies the speed of the fan and when it turns the fan it gradually increases speed putting less stress on the alternator. The one thing I really like is when I shut of the engine the fan continues to run for a few minutes to prevent heat soak.
