1989 K1500

I have an '89 Chevrolet K1500 that I put a LM7 5.3 in.  I used Gibson headers to 2.5 exhaust, FAST LSXRT 102 intake, 39# injectors, 102MM FAST throttle body, Vinci performance camshaft, 4L60E transmission, 2200 rpm stall converter, Advance Adapters transfer case adapter with VSS provision, FiTech Ultimate LS 70051.  It all works pretty good, except I'm having trouble with my transmission shifting properly.  The TCC wire is not hooked up properly after reading some of the posts here in the forum and I guess I need a little clarification on the proper install for that and my transmission isn't shifting well.  It slips quite a bit even though its a new rebuilt transmission with ALTO red clutches and Kevlar band.  I haven't played with any of the transmission settings.  I think it needs more line pressure, but I am unsure where to start if someone on the forum has a starting point it would be a huge help.  The transmission shifts fine with a little throttle, but when really driving spirited it wants to slip a lot.  Especially 3-4.  This truck is REAL fun to drive, but I believe it could be better and not eat transmissions.  My original 700R4 worked ok, but was very difficult to get the TV cable to work well on the throttle body.  FiTech's bracket did not work and I had to fabricate my own bracket.  So, my question is how and where to start with tuning the transmission.

NFT, you should try posting your question on the facebook page:

There are a lot more people frequenting it and answering questions. I run a TH400 so I have no clue about transmission programming sadly, otherwise I would tell ya!

Don't know how far you got with facebook, but another resource is Bowtie Overdrives.  Their install manual is online, and offers a very detailed outline of how these transmissions work and what type of line pressures you should be seeing in each gear.  Their testing procedure is very detailed, and would work with any 700r4 to make sure you're not destroying your trans.  It might be a good place for you to start.    It's a time consuming, uphill battle, but you can get it right, it just takes patience.

Sorry, I just reread your post and saw you've gone to the computer....if you ever go back to the 700, check out the info on the site.  Good luck, don't know anything about the computer controlled transmissions.
