700r4 and Fi tech tv cable

Page 1 of 2Next

Is anybody using 700r4 transmission with the fi tech? Running mine on c4 corvette with 700r4 transmission. The connection for the tv cable is close but not exact for the 700r4. 700r4 tv controls shift points and line pressure, if not set properly it will destroy the transmission right away. Any body successfully running one? What brackets are you running? Thanks

why

I run 700r4 on both my Fitechs.  I have found the the transmission works better by using the Fitech linkage.  I tried using a correction linkage and never was happy with results.  I would recommend getting a pressure gauge on your transmission and adjusting to spec.

So you just hooked the tv cable directly to the throttle lever? No issues? It very close to what it should be

why

That is what is working best for me.  Not perfect, but better than the correction linkage.  I cannot say it will work best for you.  This is why I highly suggest using a pressure gauge to ensure the line pressure is proper in all throttle positions.  You may have different results.  I do recommend a manual adjusting cable with the jam nuts over the factory automatic adjust cable.  These newer cables don't hold adjustment well.....

Yes I will have to do that, how do you check the Line pressure? I hooked it straight up to the Fi tech with adjustable bracket and it shifts up to quick and feels super mushy.

why

There is a port on the drivers side of the housing.  It will have a pipe plug.  You need a quality gauge with about a 6-8 foot hose, so you can route up into the engine bay.  I usually run it behind the hood nd tape to windshield.  Then I can drive and watch pressures.  You should do your own research for better description.  Also need to know what your line pressures should be.  If you have a shift kit, you can find information on the line pressures for that kit.

If it shifts quick and mushy.  You need to adjust the bracket back.  At idle the cable should have a little pull on the valve.

What throttle cable bracket did you all use? The one I have from my Holley carb doesn’t work with the FiTech. The positioning tab that keeps the bracket from moving doesn’t contact the mounting ear of the FiTech.

I used the Holley lever.  If I remember correctly, I had to drill a hole in the bracket and grind on the Fitech linkage.  Actually the the threaded end of shaft.  But, was never happy with it.  Took it off and trans worked better.  Haven't had the time to do more investigation .

I’m referring to the bracket where you mount the throttle cable and Detent cable like in the first pic,  not the relocation bracket that goes on the linkage. Sorry for the confusion. I know some people are using the FAST bracket (bottom pic) but I was wondering if there were other solutions.

I use something similar to the FAST bracket.  I get mine from Amazon really cheap.  Look just like the name brands and work great.
