Cold Idle AFR Target
Quote from dodgem880 on March 10, 2023, 10:19 pmThe parameters under the “FUEL CONTROL” menu seems to be applied to all fuel (except cranking) during their given temperature. This can be used to help with fuel enrichment.
However, as soon as the wideband is hot enough (which takes just a few seconds) the short-term trim will assist with fuel enrichment while the engine is cold. From what I can tell this “cold” AFR target is not directly adjustable and is hard coded to be based off the normal Idle AFR Target, correct?
So, it seems to me the “FUEL CONTROL” parameters are only useful for three reasons.
- Your engine stalls before the wideband heats up (Assistance needed beyond Afterstart parameters)
- You have closed loop (trim/learn) disabled.
- You want to help the trim not work as hard by manually increasing fuel while the engine is cold. (I’m planning on trying to doing this. “If you can’t beat them, join them.”)
I don’t really have a problem with this on my setup, just curious.
