Electrical Gremlin

Got my ride painted up and ready to do some cruising and track time. Problem is it runs just fine for around 1/10 of a mile, then the tach drops out and everything dies. starts back up but only runs in spurts. Figured it might be something in 36 year old wire harness so I ran dedicated switched wire from my hot side battery post at start relay. Remote battery in trunk. I have 1/0 guage wire through to the starter relay. Ground from battery is cabled to a stud bolt that runs through the rear sub-frame. Have a 1/0 running from a welded stud on front frame rail to the engine block. Once I ran a dedicated 12v switched wire it ran just fine in the shop, until i dropped the hood. It died 2 times in a row when I dropped the hood.

Getting ready to run a 12 guage wire from the neg battery post up to the throttle body. I have no idea what could be the issue. Runs just fine, then everything dies. Hoping a dedicated ground for the Fitech solves it.

Anyone else ever have issues like this?

Dedicated ground didn't work. I am wondering if my MSD 6AL-2 is dying after it warms up. Might take it out of the system and use the Fitech timing control without the 6AL.

Could it be fuel related? Try to turn on the data log right when you start the engine until it dies, and then review the data . Maybe you can see a drop on fuel flow or voltage before it dies.

I ran a stainless line out to a guage that I can see while driving. Everything goes at the same time. Went back to an external regulator and bypassed that fuel voltage change from the CPU. That might have solved it. Oh and I also found a loose battery power connection to the MSD box. Now waiting on my special order inside tank flex line. I even had J30R12 line on the pump, but the outside of the line gets snotty. It was claimed that the J30R12 line could be immersed in gas or E85, but that apparently was wrong. The line has been in for less than a week and keeps splitting at the pump because it is so soft.
