Engine stall when downshifting
Quote from Bryan on October 27, 2018, 5:07 pmI have a GoEFI 400 #3001 on a 351w in a A/C Cobra standard shift 5spd. It only has a few miles on it (Less than 20) and this may be something that will solve itself with the learning cycle. It will sometimes stall and die, when I push in the clutch to down shift. It restarts fine. I can not replicate the issue in the garage. When I fast rev it and the rpms are coming back down, it does seems to drop below the target idle for a moment and then recover. This may be the same condition.
Need advice please.

Quote from bdhulderman on October 27, 2018, 10:35 pmYeah, let's have some info on the engine, like cam radicalness and other than normal stuff, and upload on dropbox or something the log file at temp > 170 deg, during the issues you are having. Try to keep the log down to about a minute or so. That will help to diagnose the issue.

Quote from Bryan on October 29, 2018, 3:43 pmOk, This is a stroker 351w now a 408. Trick flow heads. roller cam (street) not very radical. I have it programmed at a #2 cam in the efi setup. Standard shift A/C Cobra with side pipes. When preparing to down shift, if you immediately down shift it has a "high hanging idle", if you are say in 4th gear, and coast with your foot off the throttle for a bit and then push in the clutch, it dies. Cranks right back up and runs great. Seems to do this at any running temp. Ambient temp today, when I ran the data log was 66 deg. F.
I ran a fuel calculation log and a idle control log and attached both.
Please advise.

Quote from Deleted user on October 29, 2018, 11:30 pmYour temp is not getting over 170. Tuning does not occur until over 170. Fitech sensors are notorious for being bad. Go get a Delco replacement. Cross over to early 90s TBI motors. Install in manifold near thermostat.
Once up to temp, set your IAC steps to around 15. Take a 30 second datalog at idle. Post again.

Feel free to call if i am failing to provide you with what you are asking. My program does not have any options for charting as described in the instructions. Unless i am doing something wrong.

Quote from Bryan on November 17, 2018, 11:26 amI just wanted to post the solution to this issue, for other users.
Upon advice from FiTech, I changed the Fuel Cut Control enable temp to 250 (basically shutting off this feature)
Changed the Loop Up Rate to 50 to increase recovery.
I test drove the car yesterday, sand it seemed to solve this issue. Thanks!
Constructive Criticism: it seems to be a long and painful process to communicate with FiTech and get answers. I have a shop and when it takes 2-3 weeks to get answers and responses, it is hard to keep a customer's car for so long while sorting it out. You ask a question and it may take 2-3 days get an answer. I am not (obviously) an expert on fuel injection logic and trouble shooting, so when FiTech responds, it would help to get more information on the responses on the logic and affect of the solution you are suggesting. This would help the layman learn more and understand why you want these changes made. By education the consumer, you will reduce your dependency on your expertise.
I have installed 3 of these units so far and have several more sold. So far, with exception to this criticism, I love these products and intend to sell many more. So knowledge sharing would help.
I would even be very interested in any classes, courses or learning tools you may suggest to become more educated on how to analyse the data logs and correct. I have watched every YouTube video I could find. Any suggestions?

Quote from Deleted user on November 17, 2018, 11:09 pmTo clear up any confusion. This site is independent and not affiliated with Fitech. I have recently met with the guys from Fitech and they are wanting to help with content and maybe more....
This time of year is tough to reach Fitech do to conventions and trade shows. We have spoke about the difficulty of phone/email tech support for the customer and Fitech themselves. We discussed the benefits of this platform and ways to improve.
The low cost self learning efi is still a very new market. Fitech has paved the way and has been very successful. Not many startups can say they put Holley on their Heels and forced them to develop an entirely new product line to compete. With that said the learning curve is very young. Imagine trying to teach the world to tune a carb and only a few people have the knowledge. Daunting task!!!
With this forum I hope to bring personal experience and Fitechs knowledge together. We can work out issues. Post the solutions. And catalog for the next guy.
As for your solution. Thank you for sharing. I personally have not used a unit on a standard car. I had a hunch that a DFCO adjustment would help. Now I know. Hope you continue to share.
