HELP!!! Having all kinds of issues ..
Quote from kw6155 on August 3, 2021, 10:04 pmI have the Fitech dual quad set up on a blue print 383 stroker. I started out with a msd 6al but kept having issues with fitech unit so I did away with the msd unit and am running just the fitech with timing control. When the msd was in use, the car seemed to run fine but would randomly die and the handheld would read 59000 rpm and lock up. Then one day it just stopped starting. This is when I did away with the msd box. Now the engine will only start sometimes. When it actually starts, the fitech unit just keeps shutting off and on killing the engine. Sometimes it then backfires through efi. Timing is correct and locked out. I can see the fuel squit and then shut off and then squirt and then shut off. When it does this, the handheld read outs go blank and then come back on when the engine takes off again. Eventually it will read 59000 rpm and dies all the way. There is something wrong with this Ecu ! It has never worked right out of the box…

Quote from SodaPop on August 4, 2021, 2:42 pmThats a complex setup. Hard enough just to have one EFI unit running properly. In a complex setup like yours, you are going to need a customized tune file created by someone who knows how to do so. The self tuning can do only so much. Did you check on the handheld if there are any error codes? I dont use timing control on my fitech and I am not sure this may apply to you. There is a 2 pin connector with purple and green wire that connects to the distributor and than there's a black wire that connects to the neg post of the coil. Do any of those wires run close and parallel to a spark plug wires? If it does, this can pickup interference from the spark plug wires which cases issues such as you are having. Re-locating the wires or shielding the wires helps with that. On my unit I know I installed braided copper shielding that is grounded, on the blue wire going to my coil to prevent spark plug wire interference. Also what is the voltage on the white wire when cranking? It needs to be over 11 volts or higher . Hand helds will turn off when the voltage is low. I wish you luck and hope someone else can help here. Otherwise call or email FiTech.

Quote from RyanV on October 11, 2021, 1:52 pmWhy dual quad? Seems like overkill to me. I would start over with a fresh base map. You may need to change the distribution setting from TACH to VR COIL?
If it starts up on the fresh base map I would not touch the throttle until it warms up. Check the target AFR, we had to back our off to 15.2 and ran a lot less rich.
