Is my IAC motor bad?

Page 1 of 5Next

Hi I have the FI Tech 30003 Go St. 400. I cannot get my IAC numbers to remain constant. I have had this unit for almost 3 years and I’ve never had a problem with my IAC numbers but just recently They were over 100, When I Can adjust it to read zero as per the instructions from FI Tech But whenI adjust it the other way it wants to fluctuate between zero and four but will not remain steady. If I snap the throttle open and closed my rpm jumps up as it is supposed to but then drops below my set idle speed at which point  The IAC numbers begin to climb, but they don’t stop,it continues on up to around 130 is this an indicator that my IAC motor has gone bad?

Did you check for leaks on the intake/exhaust manifold , exhaust pipe upstream of the oxygen sensor, oxygen sensor bong weld or threads?

1971 Mach 1 Mustang w/Ram Air, 408-4V stroked Cleveland, Hooker headers, FiTech EFI w/ RobBMC PowerSurge pump

I will definitely check that Out, I have cast-iron exhaust manifolds so I’m hoping that they are sealed with the head I may have more of an issue where I welded the bung in I will double check that.

I also had my issues with a small gap between bong and pipe.

Was that most of your problem?  I'm curious.

I have not had a chance to check yet been very busy I will definitely post up as soon as I get out and get a chance to take a look

Well I finally had a chance to go look at my truck tonight I checked for leaks around the intake and exhaust manifolds,I didn’t  see any problems everything was tight and all the welds look good around the O2 bung so it looks like it is not a vacuum leak. I did try adding a ground wire from the FI Tech mounting bolts directly to the battery but it did not help.

Hi everyone I am still having problems with my IAC numbers fluctuating not being able to get them to remain between three and 10 at idle I tried to do a data log for 30 seconds at idle but when I went to my PC and plugged it in There was no log file to look at. I followed the instructions I saw on the forum about how to do a data log putting it on the dashboard pushing the joystick button and it said data log on way to 30 seconds turn the data log off turn engine off waited till dashboard went dark then disconnected handheld took it to the PC. I don’t know if a data log will show any information that might help but I thought it was a good place to start but I can’t seem to get that to work. Any help would be great. On another note I see there is a software update the T1 98 I I have the T1 95 zero what is the difference between the two what kind of improvement would I see if I updated to the newer software thanks

Try taking your handheld back to the computer and delete the "DashBoard" directory completely and then bring it back to your car and try to do a log.  It should create the DashBoard directory and put a DashBoardx.csv file in there.
