transmission help
Quote from dustin103 on May 12, 2019, 9:28 amHey guys. Just found this forum and am hoping someone can help me. I just put an LQ4 in a 94 c1500. Engine starts and runs good, but I'm having problems with the 4L60E. When I select both of the options for the 4LX0E, it dies when i put it in gear. I can feather the throttle and get it to stay running sometimes, and at partial throttle the trans shifts fine, but at 0 throttle it wants to die again. I tried changing the setting to "other" and it stays idling perfectly when i shift into gear, but wont shift out of first. Any thoughts? Thanks

Quote from dustin103 on May 12, 2019, 1:27 pmI tried turning the in gear setting up to 1100 with no noticeable change. I wont have access to the truck until tomorrow afternoon to take a picture, but it's set up the same on options 4 and 5 as the picture you attached. Can't remember about 6 and 7. I will check the trans plug tomorrow also. Thanks. Hopefully it's something easy that I just overlooked

Quote from dustin103 on May 13, 2019, 6:50 pmDouble checked my trans settings on the hand held and checked the trans plug in and everything is how it should be. Actually couldn't get it to plug in the opposite way. Talked to FiTech support and all they couldn't think of anything to try. I noticed my handheld doesn't recognize when I am changing gears with the key on. Should it see that or only when it's started? Also my trans doesn't have a PRNDL mounted to the side. My old 4L60E didn't have one. Possible thats the problem? I'm grasping at anything here. Thanks for any help

Quote from lo54ls on June 17, 2019, 9:53 pmDo you have the “Brake” wire hooked up and, if so, is it hooked up correctly? This controls the torque converter lockup. If the converter is staying locked at idle, that would cause it to die.
For good measure, the Brake wire needs to have power when the brake is off and no power when the brake is pressed. It’s the exact opposite power switch function than the brake light. In other words, splicing the Brake wire into your brake light switch will not work.

Quote from Black_Iroc on July 27, 2019, 6:35 pmSeems I have the same issue. I have a 6.0 ls v8 and 4L65e transmission. The car starts and runs fine, other then a little choppy idle but when I go to shift gears the transmission doesn't shift at all. The transmission linkage is hooked up fine and shifting when I move the shifter in the car. On the FiTech computer it only shows "P" under Shifter and Current Gear is always only on "1". Any ideas? This is a freshly rebuilt 4l65e trans and yank torque converter. The only thing not hooked up is the TCC lock up wire.

Did you ever figure out why your motor was shutting off when put into gear? I’m having the same issue. My in gear idle is set at 620. In park warm in is set at 650. The transmission parameters are 4lx0e and 4l6xe.

Quote from nrocco on December 22, 2019, 6:58 pmSo I figured out my problem. When I installed my tcc brake switch, I pushed it in too far toward the brake pedal. When pressing the brake pedal, the switch was not triggered. Once properly adjusted, the switch triggered like it should when hitting the brakes, and fixed the engine stall issue when putting the transmission in gear.
