vacuum low

So after my recent rebuild and reinstalling my fitech go400 it only reads half of what my manifold vacuum is. I have 15-16" hg at the manifold but the handheld only shows 8"hg. My afr stays almost stuck on 10.4, I believe its because the unit is thinking I have a lot bigger cam do to the low vacuum. How do I remedy the difference in vacuum.

Edit: I'm thinking bad map sensor

I found that the map sensor is not a serviceable. It's part of the ECU on the throttle body units. What do I do now? Send it back to fitech for replacement?

I would contact them.  The map sensor is part of the ecu.  Retail for the ecu is $225. Be cool with them and they will treat you right.

There is another link in here about this. I had the same problem, stuck at 10.4 ,ran ok before. If you loosen the 4 screws on the ecu and vacumm goes ok it is a red or orange rubber grommet/gasket between the ecu and vacuum gauge that is pinched. Mine was deformed. I trimmed off a little on the small end and reinstalled. All ok now. Causes a lot of problems before it is evident as a stuck vacuum at 10.4. I had to remove unit to get a look at what was wrong. Just rolled it back and covered intake manifold ports. This makes life miserable till it completely fails. Do not loose it when you take off the ecu, mine fell off.
