Very lean at idle, dies when trying to open throttle.

After install it ran good for about five miles, but now barely idles at 500 rpm (should be 800), and dies when I touch the throttle. The handheld shows the AFR at 20. I removed the pump and saw the pump had slipped off the feed line and fixed that. The inline fuel gauge shows 40psi at idle. Talked to tech and they said it was the pump, eventhough it's putting out 40psi. I tried restricting the return line, and pressure stays at 40. There is a small amount of fuel coming out at idle, but not much, and it's kinda sputtering out. I have an extra cheap amazon pump that I tryed, just to if there was a differance. There wasn't. Just wanted to see if anyone had similar problems and if it was the pump? It seams to me it's something other than the pump considering I changed pumps and it didn't change. Yeah, its a cheap pump, but not likely that it failed exectaly like the original. Thoughts??
Sorry for the long post, thanks for the help
