What Temp Thermostat
I have a Go EFI 600 on a BBC 454 in a 66 Chevelle. I am running a 180 deg thermostat but on the Power Tour last week temps were only getting to the low 170 deg. I thought I remember reading somewhere that the system won't go into closed loop (Learning Mode) till the temp gets to 175 deg. Also read somewhere that thermostats start to open at there marked temp but aren't fully open for 20 deg more. (180 starts to open at 180 fully open at 200. Should I drop down to a 160 thermostat so that the EFI system will go into Learning Mode?
If your using the fitech sensor replace it with a Delco one. I have a 180 thermostat and my Fitech only reached 170 in stop and go traffic, in normal driving it was 165. I installed the Delco and it now reads 195-201 in normal driving.
The unit is learning as soon as the O2 sensor is warmed up. At 170 degrees,the unit turns off afterstart enrichment. Tuning is impossible until it reads over 170. Get the new sensor. I have it listed in the Parts and Accessories post.
