557 BBF Timing go efi 1200
Quote from taylorteamracing on June 20, 2019, 7:23 amwhen I spoke to the fitech guys when I was buying and selecting my system I had a "big muther thumper" cam in the 545 and they told me about the vacuum requirement's and suggested that that lobe center cam would not work well with the fitech to try to stay in the 110-112 lobe center 8-10 is right on the cusp on the minimum side summit racing said the same thing however people have done it just allot harder to get it where you are happy with it and with that cam I am sure it lopes pretty good and it idles within a range mine idles between 800 and 1150 religiously sounds pretty wild but when it idles like that and rpm goes up remember vac will go down it I believe is inverse to the idle and if it drops the fitech gets lost for a second plus your iac is directly effected by the idle my cam is 530/530 280/280 230@50 lobe center 110 and my idle is 800 to 1150 @14 hg vac my iac 8 to 10 steps but my motor is a blower motor and things are a bit different in my case and I am not using the timing control in the fitech my timing is locked at 38 advance and runs pretty good my issue was overheating but I have that worked out now

Quote from Dman20 on June 20, 2019, 8:26 amThank you, that makes sence. I am in process of going back to manual waterpump and fan. 4 core rad didn't like the electric at low speeds, below 10mph. One o have that I will post a new data log. Thank you again for your helped

Quote from taylorteamracing on June 20, 2019, 8:48 amif you are having heating or over heating issues especially in big inch motors turbo or forced induction I been down the radiator and fan thing I ended up using a frostbite radiator 550.00 and two perma cool fans 320 cfm each 400.00 a shroud 150.00 a red restrictor plate no thermostat they are used to heat things up not cool things down and regulate for a heater and emission's I use straight water with to 8oz of wetter wetter I run between 200 and 210 with a electric water pump before reaching this I was speaking with Aron at badassengines.com I went through a total of 3 radiators and 6 fan combos before I finally figured it out and doing a bunch of research remember mechanical fans work great at idle but not so much at 3500 rpm 6 blades are best 7 blade less efficient at higher rpm hot rod.com has a really good article on cooling systems but keep in mind a motor is going to run at what it wants to run at IE if you have a 160 stat and it runs at 200 all the time ya stat is doing nothing but getting you to to 160 faster you can (like me) end up tossing a ton into a cooling system if you don't understand all the different effects all the parts have to do with each other I dumped 15 hundred in mine and the problem was a leaking intake gasket good luck

Quote from Dman20 on June 20, 2019, 9:43 amLol well on my way $$$ I am only fighting heat below 10 mph, fan actually shuts off at 25mph on 90 degree day. I just have very limited room in front of a.c. condenser so couldn't add recommended pusher for 4 core rad. I had the best Spaul puller 3200. I could fit it just drug it down to probably 1/2 rated cfm once mounted. Next lifetime a 3 core aluminium so air will flow through as well as coolant. My max temp so far is only 210, but that is at 90, and no a.c.. our summer temps will hit 103and I will need a.c., that's why I'm heading this direction with mech pump and fan.

Probably around 7 to 10 degrees

Quote from Dman20 on June 23, 2019, 10:52 pm4Thank you, I was able to play with the distributer timing today with a vac gauge. I was able to bring it from 8.5 -9, to 13.4 to 14. I will get another data log soon, I got rad and fan problem fixed with a shroud and a 6 blade 17 inch flex. Thank you all for your help. Ill get the data log soon
