Any Ideas? on RPM noise code
Quote from mustang572 on May 3, 2020, 1:53 pmI am just finished with my install of a 30003 on a 289 with and older street dominat0r intake and long tube headers. had some starting issues but that has been sorted out this issue. I'm having is an rpm noise code which seem to giving me a extremely rich AFR 20 and then it stalls out which pretty makes it undriveable .I shielded the tac wire and a separate ground on the throttle body also have changed out the coil and rerouted all plug wires. any ideas where i should go from here?

Quote from ajax-1947 on May 4, 2020, 2:50 amI have just today got my 30003 operating successfully after about 3 months, these newfangled devices were alien to me, my last problem fixed was rpm noise, my distributor is heavily modified with two different ones welded together, I used points while setting up, noise started up after about 1500 kms, was points starting to arc, fitted Pertronix conversion, walla, no noise.
AFR 20 is very lean, usually spikes to this and if it doesn't stall should drop to about 10, very rich, then recover.
- Constant power direct to battery. 2. Switched power direct from battery to relay then to throttle body switched by wire from coil ignition on. 3. Earth direct from left hand front base stud to battery. 4. Shield on rpm wire earthed one end only. 5. Shielded rpm wire run separate, not in loom. 6. Plug wires shielded type good condition. 6. Spark plugs resistance type. 7. Good battery fully charged. 8. All that comes to mind at the moment.

1. Yes constant power direct to the battery
2. Yes Switched power direct from battery to relay then to throttle body (No switched) by wire from coil ignition on.
3. Yes Earth direct from left hand front base stud to battery.
4. Yes Shield on rpm wire earthed one end only.
5. Yes Shielded rpm wire run separate, not in loom.
6. Yes new MSD 8mm Plug wires says noise suppression . Spark plugs Bosch Platinum +4.
7. Yes, Good battery fully charged.
