Car stutters but wont start
Quote from zippyoya on January 20, 2021, 6:04 pmSo, I talked to support already about this issue.
Basically, what's happening is that it'll start on the prime shot but then die. When I'm cranking it it drops to 8 volts, I tried to run a ground wire, change the key on wire, nothing. I got codes 45, 46, and 47 showing up on the hand held, I was told by the tech support that they are injector codes. If anyone could help me out that would be great!

Quote from bdhulderman on January 21, 2021, 7:04 amUnlike a carb, EFI requires almost full voltage while cranking. Something you never get with a V8, but 11 is about the minimum you can have and have it still initialize and run right. Start with that, if you don't get at least 11 volts at the fitech power wire, try applying a charger to see if that works better, if so, you need a bigger battery, or supplemental source of power to feed it.

Quote from zippyoya on January 21, 2021, 6:04 pmI just tried hooking it up to my dads truck while it was running. The mechanical voltage gauge never dropped below 12 but the fitech screen said 6. The fitech and the gauge are hooked up at the same place. Any idea why they are so different?
thanks,
john

Quote from bdhulderman on January 21, 2021, 6:27 pmOh, I think I might know what's going on there. You have to physically ground the fitech case. There should be a screw hole in the drivers side of the fitech near the top that you can ground it to the same spot your gauge is grounded to. See if that works.
