Chevy 350 New Fi Tech 30003 minor fine tuning help needed
Quote from Thoughtless150 on May 21, 2022, 9:48 pmHello, so far i've had some relative luck with the system. no problems as far as leaks or anything serious.
However im trying to work out the idling and making it as steady as possible. I folowed their video on youtube how to properly set the unit to have it running the correct iac steps between 3-10 i believe it was ? i had it in that range around 5-7 at idle.
how ever my problem im having is especially after blipping the throttle and letting it gradually go back to idle it will lean out to the point where it will almost stall and struggle to keep idling.
This is especially an issue with cold starts some times even running lean enough to stall right after. I've been going through some of the settings on the cold start functions and after start etc. but i dont seem to be getting much of a difference. As far as driving it seems to do pretty good and is responsive. just the idle portion im having the most difficulty.
Any recommendations on what section i should focus on the most for getting it sorted out ?
Thanks
Kody

Kody, when you adjusted IAC, did you just adjust the front screw or did you adjust both the front and back. You need to adjust front and back. There is a updated procedure on this form which it details the new proper way. Makes a difference.

I'll check it out. i spent some more time on it today and also adjusted my distributor advancing it just a tad and idles much smoother and doesnt seem to be struggling to idle. but tomorrow i'll do another cold start to see how it behaves.
As far as the IAC adjustment i just did the one the FI tech has on their youtube where you go into the idle settings and turn on the iac learn feature and gradually turn in the screw until you're within the parameters they recommend.
It would be helping in that link if they had images to see specifically the locations of the screws. i'll have to check out tomorrow more closely on that side of the unit because initially the only obvious adjusting screw that seemed to make sense was the one on the front. i didn't wanna mess with the others incase it messes with the timing of the throttle blades opening. If i still have an issue with a cold start then i'll try it.
I think primarily it was a stupid thing on my part, i had the distributor too retarded which was causing it to richen a bit too much which would then tell the ecu to reduce fuel causing it to lean like crazy. soon as i advanced it a bit the thing is idling the smoothest i've ever had to idle.
