I just wanted to post this I was having a bit of an issue with getting IAC steps sorted out. I knew of the issues with the Coolant Temp sensor that comes with the unit but was still running it. My issue was the coolant temp would only rarely get above 170 and when I would set the IAC steps by the time I was done the temp sensor would show below 170.
I replaced the temp sensor with AC Delco 213-928, it took about 10 minutes to swap the sensors and the temp came up to 185 after a little warm up period. I then went through the IAC setup process again. It seems to be way more consistent in terms of the IAC steps being in the right range and it is pretty clear the stock version way under reports the temp.
I would highly suggest making this swap ASAP.
