Dead Handheld

Installed my fitech on a 69 mustang with a 351 which has been stroked to 392. For the most part the fitech  has been ok. Had an issue with hanging idle which I fixed, but still having ongoing problems with a stumble on moderate acceleration, not sure if it is a lean, rich or combination of the two that is making the car stumble. Seems to come and go but always an issue around 2000 rpm. Have been on the phone with fitech and reset my IAC and reflashed the handheld. Today while I was attempting to mess around with the accell pump inputs the handheld died completely, no screen dead. Believe it or not this is the second handheld that has died on me the first one lasted about a day out of the box and died as well, not intermittent, white screen, nothing just dead. Should the handheld fire up if it is plugged only to the computer? I would think it should as mine is still dead. I have to admit the leads to the handheld seem like something from a Radio Shack home build kit, so I did have a look inside the handheld and everything seems ok. Just curious, if anyone else has had this issue?  Any help would be appreciated. Gerry
