ford fe 390 with roller cam

Ok here goes.  built a 390.  checked cam with degree wheel and dial indicator. checked timing pointer to make sure "zero" is true TDC.

installed stock ford Dist.  Locked out mechanical advance also removed the vacuum advance and replaced it with a threaded rod to assist in rotor phasing and the pickup alignment.  set engine to 10 degree btc.  Reluctor lines up halfway before the metal part in the pickup (which is where i have always timed fords with great sucess) Rotor lines up slightly after the number one (From center of rotor )  spark plug wire tower (ford large hei style cap). check rotor phase when crank is set at 30 degrees btc and rotor lines up a bit before the spark tower.  so i know its close.

start engine and even when i set all timing to 0 on the controller its idling running at 36 plus degrees?

gonna borrow a better timing light and ill update later.

why did they not program a set timing feature into the software? this would be so much easier if there was a set timing setting lets say @ 20 degree.  cant see how this would be hard to implement.

first issue i found was throttle too far shut .. iac was at 100.  got it down to 10 for now.  still trying to get timing to make sense.
