Fuel pump

Hello all,

I'm new to the group, so thanks for any answers in advance. I have a new 383 stroker in my '72 Nova that I purchased last year (ATK performance) with FI Tech system already installed on it. I purchased an EFI fuel tank from Tanks, Inc. with a wahlbro fuel pump and installed everything just as instructed. I ran the car last summer and had a few tuning issues (learning) but overall it ran great. Lots of power, just as I had hoped...I put stabill in the fuel and ran it for 20 mins, as instructed and put her away for the winter ( i'm from Michigan)

About 2 1/2 weeks ago I started her up and let it warm up, no problems, drove it a couple times. The car ran as it did last year..no issues. Then after taking it for a ride up to the store I was on my way back and the car died, pulled over...tried to start it again..then I noticed the fuel pump wasn't running. I towed it back home and ran a jumper wire from the batt directly to the fuel pump as directed by FI Tech, the pump ran but I didn't start the car. They told me to ship the unit back to them and check it out. Then I got a call from the and they said it worked in their facilty. Now I checked all the wiring, nothing was disconnected, all the fuses were fine. So last night I went to a friends house that also has the same setup in his Camaro and he's had the same issues. He decided to run a wire from a relay and to the pump using a keyed switch to power it. WALLA! It fired right up and ran fine. Now my system isn't back yet from FI Tech, but I was hoping to get some advice as to what to do/check now. Thanks for any help. JD

This circuit, as you know, is fairly simple.  Orange wire to the pump!!!!  There is a fuse and that's about it.

I have had issues with pumps that were due to grounding issues.  Make sure your pump ground is good on your pump.  I also recommend 2ga from battery to block, 10ga battery to frame, 10ga battery to body.  This has never failed me and have never had the need to ground the throttle body.

As I mentioned, I drove the car all last summer without a hiccup..even a few times this year year before it puked.

As I mentioned, I drove the car all last summer without a hiccup..even a few times this year year before it puked. I think there is an issue with the relay/ECM in the FI Tech system that they are playing dumb to...not wanting to take responsibility for their cheap components. Just my .02 cents.

This is a place for help and education.  Not a Fitech bashing Facebook group.  I could do a few simple tests to find the issue, whether it was the Fitech or your other components.  I understand you are frustrated, but I have no time for someone who just wants to blame someone else.  I have seen Fitech repair units many times that was undoubtedly user error and/or install error.  Most of these were way out of warranty like yours.  It does Fitech absolutely no good to screw you over.  They understand the power of bad press....

Hey Austin,

I think I found my problem...I the orange wire that powers the fi tech  rubbed the casing off after the grommet fell out. I can't believe I didn't catch this before...I feel like a dumbass...sorry for the bitching.
