Hanging idle?

I have a Fitech 600 installed in a newly built Ford 347ci.  Idle is set at 800rpm.  When I drive the car after warming up, the idle seems to stick at 1800rpm.  If I blip the throttle, it comes down to 800 and stays there.

Is this teh Hanging Idle I've been reading about?

I found a few Youtube videos and will try those new setting tomorrow.

If you can blip the throttle, that tells me something is holding the throttle open.  Next time it hangs, check your TPS value.  Bet you will find it not at zero.

Going for a ride now.  Thanks.

Alright, made some adjustments, went for a ride, same idle problem.

Changed the Decel Open IAC to -20

Changed the Loop Rate Up to 33

Changed the Loop Rate down to 21

No change, it still idles at 1800 after driving for a few miles.  Pictures of the screen next.

The TPS was 2.5 when the idle was at 1800.  Checked it after a few more miles and it was 3.0

This is what I was trying to get too.  It is not a setting problem.  It is a Throttle problem or a TPS problem.  If you can blip the throttle and get it to idle down, I would say something is keeping the throttle from going all the way closed.  Do you have a return spring on the linkage? Mine does this exact same thing when my return spring is not hooked up.

The adjustments you made are for a different idle issue.  Some setups will be slow to return to idle due to a slow IAC loop, but they still return to idle.  Yours is hanging idle....

Ahhh, thats what i thought at first.  I have 2 springs on the throttle return.  But, in the Cobra, the cable has to make 2 S turns to get to the carb.  I may have to rotate the carb 180 degress and let the throttle cable do one smooth turn.

I’m having the same issue. Did you find a resolution?

I had a hanging idle issue and this procedure helped. You want the butterflies to be fully against their stops during idle. You can check this in idle by pushing the butterflies closed and see if the idle goes down or push the throttle linkage to close the butterflies.
