LS Swap in 87 Suburban

hey guys, I have a 87 suburban on 14.9' tractor tires and 2.5 tons. has a stock 350 right now with carb, and a completely bullet proof built  turbo 400, SCS transfer case. im ready to upgrade power.

I have a truck LS from a '02 pickup, that i basically got for free. my buddy is giving me a carb style intake to run on it. is it possible to run the easy street EFI throttle body style? what controls ingintion/coil packs? im confused on some infor i have seen. i cant seem to find anyone using a carb style intake on LS, with EFI, every one has the complete intake set up. hope i was clear with my questions. thanks

I'm going to preface this with the, "I'm no expert"  title before I start.  There are a lot of guys/girls on here who know a lot more than I do about all this.  No one is answering your question, though, and I know that can be frustrating.  So, if I'm wrong, I guarantee someone will chime in to tell me I'm wrong, then you'll have an answer.

From my understanding, though, what you're trying to do can't be done.  You're trying to mix a throttle body type injection system with a much more complex LS injection system which controls the fuel going to each cylinder.  The computer on the LS controls the fuel, air, and spark to each  cylinder.  The FI tech controls the fuel and air going to the intake, so all the cylinders at once.  You can control the advance of the spark with the FI tech, but not control the spark  timing to the individual cylinders.

If I understand your question, it sounds like you'd do better to just run the LS system as a whole.  If not, you're going to go backwards (technology wise, at least)by installing the FItech.

Hope that helps....if I was you, throw the FItech on the 350, put the LS in the garage and build it, then swap when you're done.  Switching from a carb to a throttle body injection system is easy.  Work in the timing control as you gain experience with tuning, and then you can switch to the LS once you have a better idea of how that is going to have to be wired and controlled.  The way I understand it, putting a Fitech on a working LS is not a good idea.

Just out of curiosity, what axles are you running on that thing?
