MSD 8360 Ready to Run

I had a 350 SBC that threw a rod so I just installed a BP 427 SBC. With the 350 I had the MSD 85551 distributor with a 6AL box. The FITech worked great with that setup.

On the new engine I removed that box and distributor and put in an MSD 8360 ready to run. Now when I crank the engine and before the engine starts I move the key back to just the on position with no cranking and the handheld is showing a tach signal of 5,000+ RPM’s and the injectors are firing and spraying a ton of fuel.

I have the blue wire routed away from the distributor and even have RF shielding on it. I’m thinking the pickup is causing interference and showing a tach signal to make the FITech think it’s seeing 5,000 rpms. I do not have the FITech running timing control because the 8360 is a 3 wire setup with an additional gray tach wire. I’ve tried hooking the blue wire to that gray wire and the negative side of the coil and there’s no difference.

Has anyone experienced this issue with the 8360 or know of a fix. I cannot start the car due to the flooding issues I’m seeing.

Any help would be appreciated. I do not want to go back to a box if possible.
