New Fitech Install: Periodic Shut Down at Idle

Patient:  72 Jeep CJ6, 304 v8, 3 speed manual, Fitech Go EFI 2 barrel, in-line fuel pump

Symptoms:  IAC @ 6, engine starts and runs well, but periodically when idling, engine dies and won't restart without full throttle and won't stay running, if it does restart.  My solution (x3) has been to resend the default 2 barrel program to the ECU.  Engine restarts and purrs. I been running the handheld connected as I've accumulated run hours and learn time.  The last time I experienced the shut down, I noticed the handheld seemed have an issue as well - went blank, not exactly sure when, and I had to unplug and replug to get it to read.

I'd appreciate your thoughts.

Thank you,

Chuck

Any fault codes? White or blank screen can mean too low a voltage. Too low a voltage on cranking (about 10.5) can also upset the ICU.

Only fault code was PO480 Fan 1 Relay.  Fan 1 settings were enabled, but is now disabled.

Jeep died again while idling.  Fault code was P0000.  Reloaded basic tune, adjusted engine size, disable fan, engine started easily and ran/runs well.

One other thing I noticed is that my handheld screen does not shut off after the key is turned off.  I have to unplug the unit for the screen to go blank.

Any thoughts are welcomed.

Maybe you have already done this, but are you sure you don't have any voltage on the white power wire when you turn the key off?
