new installation
Quote from jonnyjuggler on November 18, 2017, 5:58 pmWell I guess I will be the first!!
Just purchased the 600 hp kit for my 1970 bbc. Nothing installed still learning. Motor parts are 9.5 - 1 compression edelbrock aluminum performer heads , roller rockers on a big bump stik , intake is performer rpm. Had overheating problems and think I just about have that issue solveed after new radiator , 2 different fan and shroud set-ups and now installing a different water pump. I think this motor was about 500hp from factory in 1970 so I would guess it about the sam or possible a little more with the updated pieces.
My plan is to use a pro billet distributer and the LS1 fuel pump kit from speedway # 91012806. Its an easy mount with my set-up.Any suggestions?

I do recommend either an in-line or in-tank fuel pump with at least 3/8 feed and 5/16 return. You want a pump that can handle PWM adjustments. You can control the pump with the Fitech. Lower noise and adds longevity to the pump.
Number 1 thing, wiring. Have good grounds. I do battery to chassis, body and motor. And run your constant power directly from battery.
I personally like using the MSD coil and 6a box with the Fitech. I think they idle better and are more steerable.
Hope you enjoy and keep us updated. A lot of members use Fitech for their race car or limited street rod. I use them on primarily daily drivers and I have many friends that love getting to drive their old car to work everyday.

Quote from MuhThugga on November 21, 2017, 10:25 pmThat Speedway kit doesn't look like a terrible deal, actually. It is using the updated -AN fittings for the filter/regulator, which is crucial since the older design is known to leak. Obviously, in-tank pump would be best for longevity and keeping pump noise down, but that Walbro will last a good long time. Try to keep everything as close to the tank as possible so the pump doesn't have a long distance to draw fuel.
I used that C5 filter/regulator on my El Camino with an in-tank pump.

the walbro isn't any louder than the holly 160 I am using now. I have a good mounting location very close to the tank and am using rubber with my mounts now so its not really very noisy.
