New to FItech question on Force Fuel unit

First off hello and thanks for letting me be a part of this community. I’ve been reading and learning tons from this site!

My setup will be going into a 1966 Buick Skylark. I have a brand new 50004 force fuel unit, 100 micron filter, an in-line Walbro 255, 60ft of an-6 lines and fittings, corvette regulator, 10 micron filter, Buick 350 with mechanical pump, stock points distributor, stock A-body tank with no return line, and a GO EFI-4 600hp unit.

I want to get it all set up and dialed in on this good running setup i have in the car now. I have a 455 big block getting built now with a 200-4r that was built that i will be upgrading to next year.

The plan is to setup and get the bugs worked out with the fitech and 350 combo now. Install new 3.73 posi and get that dialed in with the fitech. Then swap  out the TH350 for the 200-4r transmission and get that dialed in. I want to do things step by step so I’m not overwhelmed with troubleshooting an entirely new bunch of parts all at once. Then once this is all dialed in i will drive it for the summer and swap the 350 out for the 455 in the winter. That way i know everything works well together for a simpler process of elimination going forward.

After researching what works and what doesn’t i went ahead and bought a new AC Delco temp sending unit, 17014 Bosch O2 sensor, some EMI clip on suppressors, and shielding to make sure i have everything covered.

I am also upgrading my stock charging system to a 1 wire 140a Powermaster alternator, and the big 3. Also adding extra ground straps front and back.

So… I do have a few questions I’m hoping I can get answers to:

1. Does the Force Fuel need a lower pressure (4-7psi) for the intake line? I could have sworn i have read this somewhere but I can’t find anything on this. If not, is there an advantage to running an inline pump to the Force Fuel unit? OR will running from the stock mechanical fuel pump be better? (The Force Fuel will be mounted at the firewall.) The instructions say to run the lines from a mechanical OR electric fuel pump to the Force Fuel unit and from there to the 10 micron filter and then to the FItech TBI unit. My thinking is less components = less failures/troubleshooting in the future.

2. I can easily buy a new sending unit with a return line, is there something recommended over stock? Is plumbing that return bung better than a new sending unit?

3. Distributor- can AND will the stock points style distributor work with timing control from the Fitech? There isn’t a ton of options for the Buick 350 as far as performance parts go. I can buy a new HEI distributor but its not MSD, its a knockoff i guess. If there’s a better way, please tell me.

Any suggestions, tips, advice is really appreciated!

Thanks you all, looking forward to getting this dialed in soon!

A lot to process here.

Force must have a low pressure supply with a return to the tank.  Your inline pump will not work.

A points distributor cannot be used with the Fitech.  You can convert with a Pertronix 1 or 2.  If you would like to use timing control, an aftermarket distributor must be used that is for computer timing.

Thank you!

I couldn’t find anything on info for the force fuel intake line pressure.
I’ll definitely upgrade to an HEI dizzy 👍

You cannot supply the Force Fuel with a 255 pump.  You must use your manual stock pump or a low flow electric pumps for carburetors.
