Did I understand you correctly? The 30003 model does not support a controllable distributor? So only a tach wire if using an HEI style dizzy?
What would another option improve spark control? Thanks

The 30003 does not have timing control.
The 30001 and 30002 have timing control plus electric fan control. These are the units I mostly recommend.
