Really poor fuel mileage
Hey guys, I'm new to this forum, so any information is greatly appreciated. I have a Fitech 3001 on a 290 hp SBC. Everything works really well, starts great, runs great but fuel mileage is pitiful. Does not run rich, no black tail pipes, really clean plugs, no trouble codes. With Edlebrock carb I was getting 17 mpg, with Fitech 12.4 mpg. 700r4 transmission, 3.42 gears. I've made several AFR changes with no improvements. Any suggestions before I switch back to carb?
With fuel mileage it is a combination of 2 things. Cruise or light throttle AFR and timing advance. Leaner and advanced is the goal. How much for your engine and vehicle is the question.
Definitely want vacuum advance hooked up. Cruise AFRs will be in the mid 14s, maybe more. Do at your own risk.
