running issues
Quote from travelall74 on February 20, 2019, 6:40 pmso i have a customers car in the shop that has the 600 hp system on it . the car came to me for running issues and he wanted more power . so the car now has a 408 sbf , msd dizzy , don't remember cam specs, aluminum heads , engine made solid 550 hp with more on tap if needed at a later date , my questions are this thing just doesn't run well . its hard to start , once its running it just doesn't seem to go like i think it should ,i change the cam setting to a 2 the engine builder said to put it at a 3 but after alot of reading on some of the vintage mustang pages i decided to put it at a 2 , when it will fire up it seems better . i need to data log but i would think i need to have it running for that . i fixed alot of issues with the previous install , wiring , fuel lines ,etc , i can screen shot the settings if that help , thanks guys

One step at a time. Your settings tell us nothing. Every build has different settings. I can tell you this. You will continue to chase the tune if you don't get the basics right first. Do not do steps out of order. Get your base timing set first. Then get the correct cam setting. Then set IAC steps. Do not make any Fitech adjustments until these are set!!!!

We are all here to help and have successfully installed many units. I am quite confident this is an installation and/or tuning issue, but I can't help you if......

Quote from travelall74 on February 24, 2019, 12:34 pmi agree totally that it is a tuning issue , i was told the engine timing was set where it needed to be not to mess with it , as far as the cam specs ill have to call and get the info , the car ran ok when it was on the 3 setting , the customer was having some idle issues and had a pop out the exhaust sometimes when you cut the car off , it would do it randomly , it never had the headers glow before , the customer has had the car since oct and had been just dealing with the issues , i didn't know about them or i would've gotten the car back sooner , he came back in for some suspension work and said o can you look at this , so i've been reading all i can about this system and i saw multiple times where there was talk about the cam settings being set higher then they needed to be , the boss and i talked about it and i changed it to the 2 setting , and the car didn't like it , ill get the cam info and go from there
