spring pressure

My new FITECH 400 hp. throttle body takes excessive pedal pressure to push on the gas. I removed an AFB with the standard 2 spring setup and it was fine.

Is there anyway to reduce the spring tension.

I have very light return springs on my Fitechs.  Also I run a bushing in the big hole with a throttle stud.  The added leverage from this setup really improves the throttle feel.

Fyi.  Getting a solid bushing, not a rubber one.  The rubber distorts on Fitechs.  To much pressure.

Thanks I will move the stud and see if there's an improvement. Now I need to find or make a bushing.

I re-located the stud to the large hole and it is a lot better, still stiffer than I'm used to but I can live with it now.

Thanks for the tip.

I'm failrly new to the Fitech world. I recently purchased the 30064 dual quad setup and found the throttle is super stiff compared to my Holley dual carb setup. When I moved the linkage ball to the upper large hole I had the softest pedal feel but could only get a max of 76% on the TPS. I then moved the throttle ball to the middle hole and was able to get an ok pedal feel but still only 85%. I then tried the lowest hole and managed full throttle of 100% but the pedal was so stiff I couldn't feather it at all. Obviously the best feel was the highest larger hole but I can't live with only 76% total throttle, especially drag racing. After thinking about the setup I decided to drill a new hole forward of the middle hole and voila 98% percent with a decent pedal feel. Definitely not as soft as the large hole, but I can live with it now. I also let the primary springs unwind one full turn on each throttle body and added a seperate throttle return spring. A word of caution, don't remove the secondary springs or unwind them one turn, they won't return to full close.

I'm experiencing a similar problem:  Spring is so tight that I can't get the throttle more than half open.  I took the spring on the primary off and added a much smaller return spring, which has helped.  I've got a bushing on order for the big hole, but am currently running out of the top hole.  Two questions:  Is there any issue with running the throttle body with the primary spring off the perch and just hanging loose? If I need a spring on there, where can I find a weaker one?  The return spring I have now is just a coil that pulls the linkage forward, I don't really trust it to pull that linkage back once I start bouncing around in the rocks.  Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I had the same problem with the hard throttle pedal. When I moved my throttle ball to the top hole using the bushing from Jeg's the throttle felt better but I lost throttle travel. My displayed showed 85% TPS with the pedal on the floor. I skinned off the plastic cover on the throttle cable and made some adjustments to the foot pedal for more pedal travel and was able to get 97%. It works for now until I can research the correct GM Style cable. I'm running a SBC in a 59 Ford F100.
