tach sweep/ fuel dump/ need help
Quote from VinD on November 4, 2023, 5:14 pmIm back with the the fuel dump issue. My rpm was going straight to 9000 with power on only. I found a video from Holly EFI that was having the same issue. Now I can put a name to it. Tach sweep. I removed the blue wire from the negative side of the coil and powered the car/ no fuel dump.... I replaced the blue wire and powered the car/ no fuel dump.
But still would not start. An error code says RMP noise. Do I clear the code and try to start again ??
Any help is appreciated. drove the new factory 5 Cobra 1.5 times, the other .5 was on a flat bed.

Quote from SodaPop on November 6, 2023, 5:52 pmTry shielding the blue wire and make sure the shielding is grounded. Also make sure your blue wire is not in parallel to any spark plug wires. I used copper braided wire to shield my blue wire and grounded it . You can get some from amazon. Why FiTech wont shield the wire from the factory is beyond me with all the complaints of RPM Noise. One thing I have learned in all the years of owning a Fitech and learning about it, is my next EFI wont be FiTech, it will be a Edelbrock Pro Flo 4 system. It is a much better product, but pricey.

Quote from VinD on November 7, 2023, 4:13 pmThanks for the info, I did unplug it and moved it away from the plug wires a lil more. I was able to stop the fuel dump, clear the code but still no start, I checked and then replaced the coil, still no spark

Quote from VinD on November 19, 2023, 7:36 amMy distributor is a flamethrower ignitor 11, I have power at my coil, but no spark at the plugs, I checked 2 plugs with an in line light tester. I brought my distributor cap to a local speed shop and they said it looks brand new. How do I test the white wire when cranking? unplugged ?

Quote from SodaPop on November 21, 2023, 4:55 pmYou need to use a multi-meter and have access to the white wire connected. Red lead to white wire and black lead to ground. Crank and watch voltage on multi-meter to see if white wire is getting power while cranking. Should be above 10v or the Fitech wont turn on.

Quote from VinD on November 22, 2023, 10:00 amThanks, I'm on it, I called pertronix to help as I have a Flamethrower coil & distributor. They made mention that because I have a Flamethrower 11 distributor, my coil should be a .6 ohms not the 1.5 ohms that is currently installed. The module inside the distributer will heat up over time and stop working. They said for me to check the ohms reading from negative battery terminal to internal distributer plate . The reading should not be over .2 ohms. Im working on that also
