Tuning method
Quote from Deleted user on November 22, 2017, 10:20 amFor those using E85. What is your preferred tuning method? 30% more cubic inch or AFR. Personal like using the 30% method because the AFR numbers are more familiar.

If your system is able to keep up. Using e85 takes approximately 30% more fuel flow than unleaded. So the injectors for a 600 unit is only good good for about 420hp on e85.
But, to answer your question, YES. I increased my cid to 460 from 355 for my e85 tune. By doing this you are able to work off the unleaded AFR scale, instead of trying to learn the e85 fuel ratios. It made tuning more familiar to me. I also keep an unleaded tune saved also, so I can switch at the pump if needed.
I am testing a flex fuel system for Advanced Fuel Dynamics as we speak. When available, it will have a harness designed for the Fitech throttle body units. Systems for the Fitech products are in the works. With this module, I can run my unleaded tune and the module automatically adjusts to any ethanol content. I have an app that tells me my current ethanol content in my fuel system. I have had an ethanol percentage from 90% to 30% and the system has adjusted instantly.
We did some dyno testing a few weeks ago. Wanted to show the performance gains, but found my engine was a little sick. I am currently waiting on Morgan&Son to get my machine work done. Vortec block 383, roller cam .610 lift, 10.5 to 1 comp., aluminum heads and RPM air gap. I will be using my same 600 unit. Can't wait to get that on the rollers.....

will this be the same for an Ultimate LS? I would assume so but want to make sure. If that is the case then thats awesome as I will just save tunes like you suggested and easy swap...

Yes, as long as you don't run out of injector.

No. The system I am running runs independent from the Fitech. Unfortunately it has not been released for sale yet.

Quote from ltcbm on October 15, 2019, 10:21 pmIf you are running an ultimateLS system they have one available. It does not know what ecu that it is hooked to, just intercepts the signal and changes per fuel content.

Great information. Never thought about using that one for LS applications.
