Type of Distributer to use
Quote from coolhand55 on April 6, 2021, 9:01 pmI am starting another attempt to get my FiTech operating properly. I've had problems since I installed it 3-4 years ago,but am hopeful for answers now that there seems to be more info. out there. The main problems seem to be the Mallory Uni-Lite distributor W/ballast resistor that I'm using, causing 036 Faults, preventing the unit to learn correctly ?? What Distributor is recommended to run with these FiTech units. I've read that a 2wire Distributor should be used, but the Uni-Lite is a 2wire(with ground) so I thought that would be OK...didn't know about the ballast resistor lowering the voltage and likely causing problems. Could you recommend a Distributor that will work, that I can also lock out if I decide to use the FiTech timing control. Engine is '70 350 SBC mild cam, Performer intake, headers, 10:1 comp., built similar to an LT1 of that era with a T400 trans. installed in a '55 chevy convertible that I've had since 1978 and drove for the first time ever in 2015! Thanks in advance for any replies.

I think the Pertronix IgniterII is a magnetic pick-up...but I'm not 100% sure about that. If it is, I wonder if there is an adjustible rotor available for the Uni-Lite Dist. ? Then all I'd need is a CDI box in the future.
