Ultimate LS Composite Intake

This is my first post, I'm glad this site exist because I am disappointed with the literature (or lack there of) for this new system.

I have the 70019 system, going on a gen III lq4.....first of all the instructions that come with the setup is for the kits 70001-4 and 70011-14. (fabricated aluminum intake).  A call to Fitech's customer service revealed that they have not yet created an instruction manual for their composite intake. (even though this system has been out for year)

So here's a couple of things I've already discovered.

1. The general quality of the intake is ok (I do like that it is made in USA), the plastic does not look as good as the factory ls1 or FastLSX intake, but the billet fuel rails are really nice.

2. The intake won't fit with the four steam tubes hooked up, I switched to just using the front two (and had to bend it out of the way to clear. (I may order the corvette/ls1 crossover tube p/n 12602544)  The valley pan bolts will also need to be replaced with button heads. Ive read that the waterpump may interfere and yes during mockup, the throttle body barely touches the water pump. I'm using the corvette pulley system with a ls3/zl1 water pumpp (p/n 19180610).

3. On the composite intake, there is no place the IAT, like on the fabricated intake. So I'm going to have find a place for it in the fresh air tube somewhere. (I really wanted to just run a k/n filter right off the throttle body.

4. The map sensor comes installed on the front with an aluminum fitting, but the intake has writing on the top that points to putting the map sensor on the rear. I've seen one picture (SEMA display) where there is a block off plate on the front. Since there are no instructions, I'm just guessing here. The second problem is the harness for the map sensor doesn't reach to the front.  The fabricated intake puts the sensor on the rear. I'm guessing they just included the standard 70050/51 harness and added the intake. It would be nice to have the connector for the MAP come out of the front with the, IAC, TPS, Coolant Temp.

5. I'm guessing on how the fuel rails are secured to the intake (again no instructions/pictures), the included fuel rail crossover is too short to go under the intake (rubs the plastic) and too long (sticks up too high) going over the top. On the fabricated intake it fits nicely underneath.

6. In searching for pictures on the internet, it shows that the included fuel pressure regulator is mounted to the driver's side front of the intake, but I can't find any detailed pics nor does it come with the needed hardware to mount it there. Guessing its just a -06an to -06an coupling or a -6 orb to -6 orb union.

7. I am impressed with the quality of the harness and wire loom, factory style connectors, the computer is small and can be mounted anywhere. I'm tempted to cut and extend the map sensor connection to reach the front, however the instructions say that will void the warranty.

I went with this complete system because I only had a long block to start with and wanted a complete system. So much for plug and play....  anyone have any experience with the composite intake?

Also has anyone looked into a engine cover to dress up the engine?

Thanks in advance for the help.

These LS units have a ways to go.  I have not had any dealings with anyone using the Composite intake.  I do know that it is supplied by Dorman.  It seems you are working through the inconveniences.  Good luck and we will try to help when possible.  Btw.  I have seen the regulator placed in many different ways.
