Ultimate LS Systems 700xx information
Quote from Paul Bell on August 8, 2021, 5:40 pmQuote from SodaPop on August 8, 2021, 4:27 pmMy curious question for both of you would be, since you are running a LS motor, are you not better off using the complete system from GM such as the intake, injectors, sensors, ECU, etc? Just curious, as that is what people here in Canada do. It runs very well based on taking to people.
A factory PCM can be used as well as a pulled harness but that harness will have lots of unneeded wires in it that really muddy up an install. And you'd need to buy software like HP Tuners to set it up so in the end, it'll cost more in money and time compared to getting an all inclusive Fitech kit.

Quote from SodaPop on August 8, 2021, 8:39 pmUnderstood, thanks for answering. My mechanic installs low miles, good used LS motors and gets a guy he knows to make a custom harness and also programs the ECU for $2000 Canadian, which is $1500 US. He has done many cars and all the owners say the car runs fantastic.

Quote from sully on August 15, 2021, 11:19 amKnock Sensor delete? I have a #70051 harness, Victor JR EFI High rise, Holley Elbow and TB.
Can they be turned off in the software?
Thx Sully

In addition to the previous answer, I'll add that I've done both. But, without tuning software like HP Tuners, there are no advantages to using the factory system. You can use different RPMs, for instance, between the 1-2 and 2-3 upshifts, with the factory PCM. However, the advantages drop dramatically (to me) after that. The factory uses narrow band O2 sensors, which limit tuning trims; FiTech uses wideband sensors. The factory uses MAF; FiTech is speed density, which is a big plus in setting up the air intake system on an LS engine.
I spent weeks getting the factory harness stripped of unneeded wires, lengthening some wires, shortening some wires (done both before and after the engine was installed). It did take me a few days to remove all that from the car and install the FiTech system, but I'm much happier now.

Quote from LS69er on August 17, 2021, 9:03 amI'm chipping away at locating all the wiring, relays and all the other stuff needed to convert to Efi for my LS engine. Someone asked me this and I couldn't answer so I thought I would post up.
Since this is a fresh LS engine running 70050 Fitech, is there a file that I could use that would be close to what I need for firing up this LS engine and keeping it running close to optimum parameters? Of course I would supply some engine specs that would help, iron LS3, 222-224 dur/ 566-568 lift, LS3 intake.
Any help would be appreciated as I don't want to f#*k up a freshly rebuilt engine.
Thanks in advance
Simon

The most important detail will be the cam setting. With the cam you list, I would start with Cam 2. It should start and run well. You will have to set the IAC steps after the engine is warmed up, done by adjusting the throttle blade idle stop.

Thank-you for your feed-back and I am asking this question because in case I go to a LS motor. I want to know pros and cons of each system. I guess it all depends how you are going to use your car. My personal preference would be going GM equipment and have a custom harness done and ECU custom tuned as I think there is more reliability with the GM components compared to the CHINA made components that FiTech uses. Especially the ECU. Even though GM components may be made in China, their quality is far superior. But I could be wrong on that. I base my views from feedback from my mechanic who has experience with FiTech and GM in regards to LS motors, and he much prefers the GM way . I cant speak for the Fitech LS systems, but their throttle body FI has issues with sensors, injectors, wiring, handhelds, and ECU's going bad. So your feedback on the LS systems from FiTech would be greatly appreciated.

Quote from AXLD on September 15, 2021, 6:00 pmI switched over the the Holley Term X. So I haven't messed with the Fitech in a while. One of my good buddies bought a 70050-1 for his gen3 6.0 swap. He had it installed ready to fire and called me over to go through the set up. Got it done and hit the key and it fired right up, got it to temp but could not bring the IAC down ( stayed at around 115 steps) . but no whistle at all ? . Stock rebuilt 6.0 with a TSP stage 2 truck cam. The TB screw was really hard to turn. ( it's the one that is upside down ). I am thinking it might be the sensor ? It looks like some after market deal. thoughts?

Quote from AXLD on September 15, 2021, 6:05 pmOh yea, BTW it was idling good ( had it down to 750 rpm) am when I whacked the throttle it revved good also. I did rev it every 500 rpms up to 2500 so it could learn some in that area till he gets a TV cable kit for the tranny.
