vapor locking in 1965 mustang 289 mild up grade in engine 262 extreme energy cam performer intake headers hei ignition and headers and dual exhaust

i am running into vapor locking issues with my fitech if it get above 85 degrees ambient temp i got my fuel line as far as i can from the headers but it does not help. it seems to run better when i dont run an ethonel blend fuel but is still not reliable above 85 degrees. also when i went to kool deadwood nights in deadwood sd it did not handle the elevation change very well any thoughts would help. i wrapped the fuel line underhood in insulation to try and help the problem but not sure if that will help give me you thoughts. vapor locking made my weekend there miserable. couldnt cruise and enjoy the view.  it works great when temp is 80 or below

Here are my thoughts on vapor locking.  I suppose the first thing to look at is your plug color to see if it's running too lean, which will make it run hot, not sure what your engine temp is when this is happening.  My wife's '71 vette in Tucson, AZ where it gets 110 on regular basis here in the summer, we had vapor locking trouble with the fitech go efi 4 600.  I had to put on a wood spacer between the fitech and intake, and that took care of it.

I have been having the same issues with my unit here in hot ass florida. If my engine temp gets over 190 and I shut it off and let it sit for a few minutes it has a hard time restarting,I have verified that I have fuel pressure when this happens. One time it got to 215 and i shut it off and came back a half hour later and not only would it not start but the handheld was not working either.I'm thinking these units have a heat tolerance issues....

I'm installing a 1/2in plastic carb spacer tomorrow to see if it will help.

I have these issues in Texas, but on e85.  Something I am not surprised about.  I keep a can of starting fluid.  A little spray and it starts right up.  Then I go into my cranking menu and add a little fuel.

My unleaded installs have not had this issue, but would try the same method if needed.

If you have the FCC,  there could be other issues, i.e. vapor lock.  One of many reasons I don't recommend the FCC.  All OEM fuel injection have an in-tank fuel pump for a reason.

Plastic 1/2 spacer has seemed to cure my vapor lock issues.

I also had a vapor lock issue at wormer temp days, not on the freeway but on the trail when going slow and not getting the cooling breeze of moving. So I moved my fuel line and pump inside the Jeep, I know this is not practical for some, but I've had good luck with it(knock knock).
