Will not start. fuel pump running. connect to ecu

Hey I got a 72 nova a few months back with a fitech street system on it. It has run fine. During some body work my battery got smoked. I got a new battery. As soon as I connect the battery the fuel pump starts running without the ignition even turned. There was a blown fuse, I believe 15A off the small red wire, it blew again. I checked my 12v on the white wire as everyone suggests and that is fine. I checked functionality of my ignition and it is good. I am trying to figure out why the fuel pump is running as soon as I connect the battery. I also cannot get the car to start obviously. The display says connect to ecu when I try to go into any of the settings. I assume my ECU is shot. Any help?

Not good - looks like you need to call Fitech support.  Perhaps they will let you send it in to bench test.

Yeah, not good at all. I shot them an email earlier. We'll see.

When you say that you checked 12v on the white wire, do you mean 12v with the ignition on or off? The white wire should be switched. It should have 12v only when the ignition is on.

It is switched. As I said I also checked the functionality of the ignition switch which is what the white wire comes off of. Support suggested resetting the unit which can only be done if it will connect, which it will not do. Therefore it may be something with the ecu.

Just got my unit back from fitech to replace the ecu. Now the fuel pump primes up as it should and my ecu connects to the handheld but I cannot get the engine to start. It cranks like its trying to turnover but never fires up.

Lol.. found a wire I must have disconnected on accident when I removed the unit..
