So did software the 198i update and adjusted CTS as per guide. Ok results to a point then shows consistently too high once fully warm and driving. I now have a new AC Delco sensor I want to install so riddle me this...

Do I just install Delco sensor and leave it at that? or

Do I recalibrate with the Delco sensor? or

Do I somehow disable/reset the CTS option in the new software?

hmmmm

This is the problem with the calibration option.  If you change sensors, you must recalibrate.  This is why I suggest changing sensor in the first place.  Can save a lot of trouble later.

You need to go back to the default values of the Coolant sensor calibration.  Save your tune, save cal from ECU.  Load the default V8 file, write cal to ECU.  Write down the default values, then reload your saved cal.  Input those values into your tune.

Cheers Austin. I have a recent good tune backed up in updated software without CTS adjustment. Will probably swap out sensor tomorrow. I’ll post back With how it goes.
Thanks for response.

Done! Working like a champ.

New to this forum after finding this thread on CTS issues about 15 min into my first install and first start up last week.... Thank you! I installed a NAPA equivalent of the AC sensor that was recommended. Temp seems very close to factory gauge now.

Question - I'm new to EFI so I don't know if I should or should not expect my CTS reading to match my IAT reading when the car has sat overnight in the garage at 50F? Fitech CTS was off by ~12F low from IAT and new NAPA sensor is ~4F lower after overnight "cold soak" in the garage. But not sure if they should match (air/coolant medium, etc.).  Thank you in advance!

I switched to the Delco and now my equis gauge and  my hand held are fairly accurate with each other, go with the Delco works great in mine, no they shouldn't match because coolant has glycol I believe  raising the specific gravity of the liquid making it harder to freeze if you ran water they would be closer to the same.

Hi,  getting in a little late on this, but what is the Delco part number for the coolant sensor?

Thanks.

So the 2 sensors you have are located where exactly?  I noticed on my car about a 10 deg difference between the stock sensor in the head and the fitech sensor in the intake manifold.  I put in a higher flowing electric pump, and now they are identical.

where is the temp sensor located, you will want it as close to the return to the radiator or as close to the thermostat as possible the block and heads will always be higher, my fitech sensor was 10 off and the Delco i used foe a Chevy 1500 and it is still about4 degrees off but i am taking the gage temp closer to the head in the intake and the fitech is just before the thermostat being the thermostat is farther away from the head the lower 4 degrees makes sense but remember also with heat equals resistance and that will cause variances so also make sure everything is grounded very well

Hello to All again

I changed my Temp sensor to the one listed (AC Delco# 213-928) my temp on the Fitech dashboard still read about ten degrees (F) higher.  Is there a way to recalibrate the CPU to read the correct temp.  My engine is maintaining 180-184 degrees (used calibrated infrared thermometer to verify) the Fitech is showing 192-196 and never turns off the fan because it thinks the engine is overheating.

Ok new update!! So I unplugged the coolant sensor plug to make some resistance reading @70F- 4.53 Kohms @180F-275 ohms trying to see what the Fitech CPU needs to see in order to display the proper temp.  So dummy me, forgot to plug in the sensor but the Fitech Display was still showing me the usual 192-196, so where did it get this from? Is this normal??

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!
