Problems with starting, acceleration

PreviousPage 2 of 4Next

Minagle, would you mind if I use your pics and story for a youtube video on electrical interference?  This is a textbook issue and we can blame the shop.😁

I will be respectful.

I tried logging again.  I waited for the handheld to blank out.  And then another minute or two.  Still no log_file directory, or dashboard directory. Tried searching, and nothing named log exists.

I don't want to bad mouth the shop.  I glanced over the installation instructions this morning, and I see no mention of special instructions on running the blue wire away from spark plug wires.  In fact, the fi-tech tech never told me that when I called with the rpm noise.  If this fixes the issue, I have no issue with you sharing it for others.  But unless I am missing something, FiTech could state this in their instructions, or at least when I called.

BTW - warm start is still a problem.  But I can't get data to log to share.

Routing signal wires away from major electrical sources is wiring 101.  In my opinion the shop should have known the basics.  Or better yet, did some testing and diagnosing.

I apologize for my disgust, but I really get pissed when a shop says they can do something and leaves the customer with issues.  We see this all the time with Fitech installs or any other aftermarket fuel injection for that matter.

To be completely honest with you, I don't think this system is going to work out for you.  Not because it is not capable, but that you were not looking for an upgrade that required your time.  Just as with a carb, a little learning and adjustment is necessary.  The big difference is Fitech can be set once and it does the rest.

The shop that took your money could do an install, somewhat, but they definately do not know how to adjust the Fitech properly.  Yes, they are self tuning, but they require the correct settings first.  This shop should have known this....

I'm willing to learn.  I've watched a number of videos on setting cranking fuel settings.  I wanted to give it a chance to learn for a while before I tinkered with it too much.  It was running decent for a while.  I have tried lowering the Prime fuel Mult to 100 to try to alleviate warm start issues.  I know I can go lower.  Warm start is still an issue.

I tried again to do a data log.  I did a few, waited until the screen went completely blank after shutting off, and still no logs when I hook up to the computer.  Am I missing something? Or is something wrong with the unit that it will not log?  It says logging on/off when I enable/disable it.

I am grateful for any help getting this setup and tuned properly.

Ok, when you hook to the PC and open the temp drive for handheld, do you see a file called "log files"?  If not, we should do a software update on the system.  I can provide the software.  Check out the topic in the Members Section.

Must have a Dropbox account to receive th shared file.  Too big to email.  It is a free file sharing app.

Follow my instructions and the Fitech instructions provided and all will be good.

No - that is the problem.  There is no log_files directory.  I was tempted to create one.

Someone from Fitech put an update in dropbox for me.  I got the truck back yesterday, and wanted to verify it was actually an update before going through the trouble.  Turns out the version he put in the dropbox is the version I have.  This is what is displayed on the handheld (also the verison he put in the dropbox):

Default v8 T198i

I think I am just going to create the folder log_files and see what happens.  Unless that could cause me trouble...

I created the folder, but still no logs.

There have been updates to the 198i version.  Go ahead and update.
