Recommended Fuel Pressure

Page 1 of 3Next

From what I'm seeing the FiTech runs on 58 lbs fuel pressure. Is that the min or recommended? I'm getting approximately 54 at idle and wondering if that causing a lean condition at idle. It gets better when I get in the throttle but never really hits the target, its always a bit lean. I'm seeing high AFR readings and almost positive I don't have an exhaust leak. Have a target of 13.6 and am reading 16.5-17.5. I'm running a 10 and 30 micron filters. The 30 is first for the big stuff and then the 10 right before the FiTech.

Edit: The plugs actually look rich. Just installed them and they are black.

My Lambda is reading 118.21 with a target of 92.52

Running stealth 360 pump with PWM set to 100

Here is a pic of the pro software running.

I assume you do have a return line...  I would try a different pressure gauge first, never hurts.  In my experience a stealth pump at 100% willmax out the pressure gauge.  I have an automotive in-tank in my c10.  It runs at 50% of super unleaded and 60% on e85.

That gauge is brand new and yes I have a return line. I know just because its new doesn't mean its perfect but seems like Ive been chasing my tail this whole install with stuff that's working perfectly fine. Ive about had it with this system.

2 new O2 sensors, 2 sets of plugs, 2 sets of collector gaskets, loaded latest greatest software, installed RF shielding on the tach wire and grounded the shielding, installed 2 emi RF clamps on tach wire, and grounded the Fitech. Have a max reading of 0.78 ohms resistance reading from battery ground to all points listed above.

I guess Ill try new header gaskets even though its a f**king pain in the ass to replace Pontiac header gaskets on an A body. That's the only thing left unless its setting or cal issues.

I'm going to pull the filter element from the 30 and see if the pressure comes up.

A datalog would help...

Replaced header gaskets and removed 30 micron element and still have high AFR and about the same fuel pressure. Ill get the logs and send them to Fitech i guess as no one seems to know whats up.

Not a fan of this system so far. I have way to much money in tbis new engine for some efi to trash it. Should have never sold my Demon

I can understand your frustration.  But, myself and lots of others have Fitechs that work flawlessly.   You could have gotten a bad one.  Most of the time it is an overlooked installation issue and/or something external.

If you are positive your fuel pressure gauge is correct, then we need to find out why the fuel pressure is so low.  This is where I would start.

Did you run the orange (fuel pump) wire directly to the pump, no relay?  How is the pump grounded?  How do you have your fuel lines hooked to Fitech? Do you have the return line hooked to the correct port?

Sounds elementary, but it's a process...

Im using the Aeromotive pump relay kit, which is hooked to the orange wire. 8AN feed up to engine then 6AN to FiTech. Using 6AN 90 to feed it. Return is 6AN the whole way with a 6AN 90 leaving the unit. My ground is to the frame which reads less then 1 ohm of resistance to neg of battery.

What are you thinking I should see for pressure?

We can throw out PWM adjustment.  Since you are using a relay, the Fitech can not adjust the fuel pump.  I can explain more if needed.

At full power, that pump should have psi well above the 58 pounds recommended.  Which port does the return line attach too?  It should be the port on the back passenger side or your back left when standing in front of the vehicle.  Send a pic of unit with no air cleaner, so I can see install.
