Running rich off of idle

I like that trophy. Glad things are working out. You will be a master technician soon. Taking applications to replace me. Doesn't pay much, but guaranteed to keep you busy.😅😅😅😅

On the lean issue, what is your fuel pump? Are you using the command center?

Ok....I got IAC step at 20.....cam is big.
All good. Now I need to solve the hyper rich at idle problem. I will take another run log tomorrow and post

Really need to lean out idle on a big cam.

Ran MUCH MUCH better. IAC was at about 15 or so at idle after driving around. Im not sure the passenger side idle screw is set right and could use help on AFR

I have the standard inline pump. It seems to starve out the unit for fuel. If I cycle the key a couple times I can actually hear the system charge up again. Then I can drive a short distance until in starves out again.
Is there a known issue with the inline pumps? Should I look at other units? I have checked my supply lines and they are good.

Which pump do you have? How is your fuel system setup?
Inline pumps are the last resort for EFI. Especially when on street cars. They are not as reliable as intank or the now available Force Fuel from Fitech.

Quote from 65sohc on October 22, 2019, 8:25 pmWhile reading messages on a Chevelle forum I came across a link to the Edelbrock EFI system. Despite the fact that it is a completely different system, the tuning principles are the same and the detail to which they go is much greater than anything I have seen from FiTech, ie. "We are not a tuning school." With respect to idle quality with high overlap cam, Edelbrock goes into great detail as to why idle is unstable. They suggest disabling closed loop operation at idle to avoid the excessive rich lean variation and compensation. In looking through the FiTech options it seems that Fuel Trim RPM Min is where one could address this. Default appears to be 500 rpm. My idle is 830 so I set mine to 1000 RPM. My idle is indeed more consistent.
