Temp Sensor
Quote from Poncho on November 26, 2017, 12:04 amSeems to be a known issue with the Fitech provided temp sensor. I experienced a difference of about 25 deg between my AutoMeter Phantom gauge and Fitech handheld. I replaced the Fitech sensor today with BWD WT3000 and my temps are with in 5 deg of each other. Cost me $20 at the local parts house.

Quote from Deleted user on November 26, 2017, 12:41 amYep, I pulled a Delco out of a 270,000 mile motor to replace mine. Also have problems with TPS, but doesn't seem to be a common issue.

I pulled the MAP sensor out of a supercharged 3.8 Buick that had the hood off all summer. Worked great with my MSD 6530.

Quote from Doug on November 29, 2017, 2:34 amThinking about how to test the temp sensor. I am putting in a new Delco but I know that the one I got from Fitech is not right. Here are some basics on testing temp sensors. http://www.madelectrical.com/workshop/water-temp-gauge.shtml

Quote from cdnclassic on April 6, 2018, 12:51 amGlad I found these posts because I wondering if it was my temperature gauge or what especially since I have my cooling fan running through the Fitech system. Just put a Standard TX3 coolant sensor and we're reading with 2-4 degrees difference now.

Quote from v8vega383 on October 15, 2018, 7:15 pmI can also verify the supplied temp sensor is way off, by approx 25 degrees. I installed a GM 15326386 and voila it now matches my Autometer gauge. I can't believe Fitech would supply these when the computer requires the minimum temperature to setup parameters.

Quote from mclay on October 19, 2018, 6:53 amAfter reading this, and struggling a little with the "fine tuning" aspects of things with my Fitech (which I will post about later once I have all my data etc.), I got up this morning, started my truck (it was 0ºC this morning) and let it warm up. Being a new, ground-up built motor, I let it warm up to full operating temp before driving. My mechanical Autometer temp gauge was reading a full 180-200 before I took off... took a look on my Dashboard screen of the handheld to see the temp and it never went above 170, hovering in the 165 once I got cruising along.
I will be looking into replacing that temp sensor sooner than later. Thanks for sharing your information folks!

Quote from tony-muscle on October 22, 2018, 3:48 pmI may have this issue as well. While driving my temp is "at" 165-170. My thermostat is a 180 and I know it works because it was tested before installing it. I double checked couple times with an IR gun, and while the FiTech was measuring 170 the IR thermometer was measuring 185. Now a question. I guess I will but the GM and test it.

Are the sensors near each other?
