would be good to find info in one place

Cheers

Rob

This was my problem.  Info was hard to find when I installed my system.  The only good source was Facebook and then you had to ask a question that you knew had been asked before.  Here we will be able to search for solutions that have already posted.

I agree.  So glad someone wants to take on a forum.  We found a lot of good people on Facebook, but I think "pinned" post suck for organized technical discussion.  Forum websites have a much more powerful search function.  I would warn you to have a good rule set and be prepared to kick out the trolls.  First rule should be no politics.

Fitech related topics only.  And I am big on Politics and History.  No place for that here.  We will also be warning Users of their language and insults...

Haven't made the leap yet. I plan on getting rid of the carb that is on my engine in the near future and this unit is not far off the price of the carb I would buy so I want to learn as much as I can about the requirement for changing over. I know it will be more involved than just bolting it up. Thanks for starting the Forum!

Anix, welcome.  I'm not far if I say, "If you can tune a carb and work a smart phone, you can install a Fitech."

TOPtuner01 I am sure I can install and tune it. I need to get back up to date but in another life I had a small shop and worked quite a bit of (mostly GM) RCM controlled systems even back to the computer control carbs. What I am looking for is dependability and to be sure that I understand all the up front cost involved with the change over. You see I would be going from a mechanical single line pump to fuel injection so I only assume there is more to the cost than just the out of the box unit.

Anix, yes there is, but not to much.  Your fuel system will need updated obviously.  Fitech offers the fuel command center, but I do not recommend it.  See to many problems and I don't like the clutter.  I can make recommendations. It all depends on the install.  Me personally, I modify my fuel pickup for an in-tank pump and then add a return line if necessary.   The other cost would be your ignition system and some electrical updating.  The ignition system all depends on which way you want to go.  I run timing control wit the Fitech.  If it is a Chevy, I use a modified small cap HEI.  Those are cheap.  Also I use a MSD coil and 6a box on all my installs.  I have done several daily driver installs this way and we are all very happy.  Almost like driving a new car, but a lot "Cooler".

Nice to see a forum for this. My Fitech is still sitting on the shelf. It will be replacing a Thermoquad on top of a 440-3 Mopar motor.

I am hoping it will withstand the heat of a Motor home doghouse. The vehicle is a 1976 Dodge Travco Mahal 27' motorhome.

Pzookey, definitely have an adequate return line with an in-line or in-game fuel pump.  I would not recommend the fuel command center in this application.  My engine bay on my 67 c10 gets super hot in the Texas heat.  Fitech runs flawlessly.
